Close Encounters

A few videos of some direct camera encounters...





The video below has something I hadn't seen before.  After the first elk leaves the frame, he then comes tearing back through running away.  As he's running, his head/nose go straight up in the air.  I assume he's bugling or sounding some sort of alarm.  Very cool.  He does it twice while he's running, you have to watch his head.  Then, two more elk follow behind.




No close encounter here, just a bobcat putting up with crap weather...

Today's post is dedicated to several pictures and videos of deer running from the last few days.  "Running" isn't always accurate, as you can see in the vids, "bouncing" is more accurate.

You Guess What It Is...

Wendy and I think it's a bear, but we're not totally sure.  Could be a weird, giant raccoon, some new species of dog or even a black, hairy chupacabra.  It's also strange that it is not on any of the other cameras that are very nearby that spot... If you pause it at (or back it up to) the very first frame (not the thumbnail it shows when it displays the "play" icon) you can see his/her ears.

The First Owl

We had never seen an owl since we lived here and we didn't see this one (the cameras did), but a few days later I saw a big one near the basketball court.  It was huge.
